Project Description

Introduction

This is a two-day comprehensive course designed to give participants the necessary skills and knowledge to provide a first aid response to a casualty.

This course is recommended for anyone who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

The Provide First Aid course provides candidates with the practical skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies including providing CPR, managing the incident and casualties in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines, until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

This program also meets the requirements of Safe Work Australia Code of Practice for First Aid, which recommends that first aid skills are refreshed every 3 years with CPR skills being renewed every 12 months.

There are no entry requirements for this qualification. However, Vocational Training Services will address any individuals at risk on a case by case basis.

VTS ensures that all training workshops simulate the real-life working environment where these skills and knowledge would be performed, with all the relevant equipment and resources of that working environment.

The Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process involves the collection of relevant evidence to meet the assessment requirements outlined within the qualification. Once the criteria is met, the qualification can be awarded.

The process is not intended to be time-consuming or require a laborious search for historical evidence. Most of the assessment involves direct interview and observation related to your employment and collection of paper-based evidence to support your nomination.

Undertaking this mode of assessment can be advantageous to those candidates who have:

  • Previous industry qualifications
  • Previous incomplete qualifications
  • Relevant industry experience
  • Relevant employment skills
