Project Description


This is a one-day comprehensive course designed to give participants the necessary skills and knowledge required to responsibly sell and serve alcohol.

This course is recommended for all levels of sales personnel involved in the sale, service and promotional service of alcohol in licensed premises. Those selling or serving alcohol may include food and beverage attendants; packaged liquor sales persons selling in person, over the phone or online; winery, brewery and distillery cellar door staff; and supplier sales representatives.

This unit also applies to security staff who monitor customer behaviour and to the licensee who is ultimately accountable for responsible service of alcohol (RSA) management.

VTS ensures that all training workshops simulate the real-life working environment where these skills and knowledge would be performed, with all the relevant equipment and resources of that working environment.

There are no entry requirements for this qualification. However, Vocational Training Services will address any individuals at risk on a case by case basis.

The Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process involves the collection of relevant evidence to meet the assessment requirements outlined within the qualification. Once the criteria is met, the qualification can be awarded.

The process is not intended to be time-consuming or require a laborious search for historical evidence. Most of the assessment involves direct interview and observation related to your employment and collection of paper-based evidence to support your nomination.

Undertaking this mode of assessment can be advantageous to those candidates who have:

  • Previous industry qualifications
  • Previous incomplete qualifications
  • Relevant industry experience
  • Relevant employment skills
