Introduction

The SIT40422 Certificate IV in Hospitality qualification is designed to equip workplace-based trainees and employees who are employed in a hospitality supervisor role in industry with the necessary skills to perform the job role of a hospitality supervisor or manager. This qualification provides a pathway to work in supervisory roles within organisations such as restaurants, hotels, motels, clubs, pubs and licensed cafés.

The course is designed to give learners the necessary skills and knowledge to plan, monitor and evaluate the work of team members. They may operate independently or with limited guidance from others and use discretion to solve non-routine problems.

Expected learner characteristics include prior knowledge and skills, prior qualifications, or units of competencies related to the hospitality industry, and minimal barriers in language, literacy, and numeracy. By completing this qualification, learners will have the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their roles as hospitality supervisors and contribute to the success of the hospitality industry.

As the target group of this qualification are primarily working in licensed venues, all participants will be adult learners over the age of 18.  Learners who do not possess the unit SITHFAB021 (RSA) will be required to undertake training and assessment in the unit of competency before working with alcohol products as per the Liquor Control Act 1988 and Liquor Control Regulations 1989.
